WaNoWa

WaNoWa

This project was initiated by Yohei Yamaura, percussionist and art director of "Yamato Kogen Taiyo no Ie", in memory of those who lost their lives in the East Japan Earthquake of March 11, 2011, and in the hope of doing something to help the world, which is facing many problems. Using a choir chime, an instrument that can produce a beautiful tone simply by swinging it down, which was available at the facility, the participants practiced improvisation in an extremely simple way, ringing a chime chosen in a scale that would be comfortable for the idea of musical expression utilizing the characteristics of the facility users, at their own favorite timing. Yamaurah told the performers, "You don't have to match your surroundings, you can play at any timing, and you can savor the sound of yourself and your members at any moment.". By sharing these points with the performers, a sense of security and space was created, and a unique and comfortable world of sound was created for each of the performers. This work was independently sold as a CD-R at the facility in 2011, but now, about 10 years after its creation, the project was re-launched with a renewed desire to share the work with the world after seeing the situation in COVID and the rest of the world with more problems, the project has been restarted. And now it is released as a CD and a double LP set. This is the collaborated release with JUZU a.k.a. Moochy’s CROSSPOINT, Chee Shimizu's 17853 Records, and TUFF VINYL, which has recently established its own record production line in Japan.
